Outlook ‘This email has no content’

Outlook ‘This email has no content’

We are aware that some email end users are experiencing the issue of sending emails which contains text and has attachments but when sent, displays the message ‘This email has no content’ in the body of the email.  There have been several suggestions as to the cause, one of which is, that when an email is sent from draft (ie if the email isn’t sent immediately or takes several minutes to create) and has an attachment.

To resolve this issue, check for MS365/Outlook updates:

With Outlook open select the File menu item

Select ‘Office Account’

On the right side click ‘Update Options’ and then ‘Update now’

Follow the on screen instructions to complete the Microsoft365 updates

Once this process completes, check for Windows updates and install any missing updates, including Feature updates.

Restart your PC and check for any further Windows updates.  Repeat until all Windows updates have been completed.

Open Outlook and click on the Zimbra tab.  On the right side of this menu are three vertical dots, click the dots and from the sub menu, select ‘Check for Updates’

Install any Zimbra updates and restart Outlook

Open Outlook and send some test messages to make sure the issue is resolved.

The above steps have resolved the issue for some users, however, we are awaiting a more permanent resolution from Microsoft.  Until an update is released from Microsoft, the following workarounds have been suggested:

Use webmail (the issue is only affecting Outlook users)

Zimbra have released an updated ZCO which they believe provides a workaround to the blank email sending problem.Outlook should prompt the user to update as normal when a new version of ZCO is released. Otherwise the installer can be downloaded from the Zimbra website:https://www.zimbra.com/product/addons/zimbra-connector-for-outlook-download/
