Apple device SSL certificate error

On your Apple device you may repeatedly see an error pop up on your screen ‘Cannot Verify Server Identity – The identity of
mail.tstnet.co.uk cannot be verified’. If you are using a different domain than tstnet.co.uk, the message will be slightly different.

To resolve this issue, the incoming and outgoing hostnames need to be changed. If you have a tstnet.co.uk email address, the hostname needs to be changed to mail37.extendcp.co.uk

To make this change on your Apple device:

  1. Tap ‘Settings’ on the Home Screen
  2. Scroll down the Settings list and tap ‘Mail’
  3. Tap on ‘Accounts’
  4. Select the email account that needs to be amended.  In our example, this would be the tstnet.co.uk account
  5. Tap ‘Account’
  6. Tap Host Name and then change it. If you have a tstnet.co.uk, this needs to be changed to mail37.extendcp.co.uk.  For other domains, please get in touch and we will let you know what the host name should be. Tap ‘Done’
  7. Scroll down to ‘Outgoing Mail Server’ and tap ‘SMTP’
  8. Tap ‘Primary Server’
  9. Make sure the ‘Server’ slider is ‘On’ and enter the mail37.extendcp.co.uk (or alternative) host name
  10. Tap ‘Done’.  Go back to the mail account settings and tap ‘Done’
  11. The settings changes have been completed and you should be OK to send/receive email without the warning message
